Keith Knight“The X-keys Stick is an indispensable part of how I use my computer. I would be miserable without it.”

- Garry Bartsch

Three buddy buttons under Keith's foot

I made this angled stand for my computer keyboard and X-Keys Stick. The two ends are natural PLA printed on a Mendel90 and they are joined together by a dowel (friction fit). To keep the keyboard from sliding on the holder, and to keep the holder from sliding on the desktop, we smeared a thin layer of clear silicone caulk onto the surfaces that touch the bottom of the keyboard and the counter top (the silicone is why some edges look rough). The keyboard is now at a steep angle and it is easier for me to type on (I have a disability and type with two plastic sticks with rubber ends which are fixed into splints I wear on my wrists).

Keith's elbow switch

Aside from the typical 'cut, copy, paste, Save, etc.' I use the X-keys to avoid using the right mouse button. My disability means I can only accurately click the left button. So one X-Key is programmed to do a right click. But I have further combined the X-Keys and X Mouse Button Control software to make the left mouse button emulate the right button. I have two X-Keys buttons dedicate to switching the left mouse button to left or right. Without this functionality I would have a very difficult time operating the CAD program I use.
